Community Moonlight Stroll Powered By United Way

I got involved with ODWS after being introduced to a board member when I 1st moved here to Washington, NC. Our initial conversation struck a cord as I had an older sister who was homeless in her later years.  Our family wasn't able to reach her through intervention and the realization was that I had swept it under the rug, even after she had passed away.  It became clear to me that I did not truly understand the depth's of homelessness. Every homeless individual's story is unique and sometimes they just need a little help & support from others to right their ship.  So I volunteered my time as a Day Center Resident Assistant at the shelter so it can be open during the day.  Recently I involved myself in fundraising activities like going to the Ladies Brunch or buying a raffle ticket and now doing the Moonlight Stroll.  Donations from the private sector go a long way to keeping the lights on and support ODWS mission to expand and enhance its facilities for the community.

The Community Moonlight Stroll was created by the Beaufort County United Way as a way for community members to support local causes they are passionate about. United Way strives to foster a collaborative resilient region where every person has the opportunity to thrive.
