Description

Please join us on Saturday May 14, 2022 to raise Awareness of ALS and provide research funding in support of a cure and to support local organizations that the Jones family holds close to their hearts.

The Do It Like Dan foundation is hosting a “Pick Your Adventure” fundraising event starting at Billings Farm & Museum in Woodstock, VT or virtually if you cannot make it in person. We will be offering a guided Jeep tour through the class 4 roads, maps of mountain bike routes, gravel bike rides, hikes through Mt. Tom or gentle walking routes around Woodstock.

Your adventures can start anytime between 10am -2pm from Billings Farm. Food trucks will be serving food from 12pm-5pm, music and post adventure festivities will start at 2:00pm.

The Jones Family (Dan & Ann and their 3 children, Izzy - 20, Trey - 17, Charlie - 12) have been part of the Woodstock community since 2001.  Over the last 20+ years Ann & Dan have selflessly contributed to our community in many ways while raising their 3 children.

Dan has coached our kids in Lacrosse, Hockey & Soccer.

Ann has been involved with and held various board positions with Rainbow Preschool, Woodstock Elementary PTO, Woodstock High School's Endowment Committee & Woodstock Youth Hockey.

This family is always quick to jump in to help and support the community and those in need. Now it's time for us to help support them with their fight with ALS and create a foundation that will support ALS research and community organizations for years to come in their honor.

In October of 2021 after dealing with various issues, aches & pains (Assumed it was due to sports injuries and turning 49 / aging) Dan was given the heartbreaking news that he has ALS.  The goal of the Do It Like Dan foundation is two fold.  First to help his family with their efforts to care for Dan and participate in Medical Trials / ALS research and secondly to provide a long lasting support for ALS research and support of programs and organizations that have been a big part of the Jones family (listed above).

What is ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease? ALS is a progressive and fatal disease, attacking neurons that control voluntary movement. These neurons die over time. The result is the gradual loss of muscle movement, speech, swallowing, and eventually, breathing. ALS currently has no cure, and we see approx. 5,000 new cases per year in the US and has an unfortunate life expectancy of 2-5 years.

Dan is actively participating in medical trials which are very costly and advocating for federal policies to improve access to trials as well as faster paths to the patience in hopes of improving quality of life and of course a cure.
