Description
In a world that’s constantly changing, one thing has remained steadfast: the Johns Hopkins Kelly Gynecologic Oncology Service in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics has remained a leader in research and care for below the belt cancers. The annual Below the Belt Stride and Thrive event has celebrated six remarkably successful years, including two virtual events during the COVID-19 pandemic. Unfortunately, due to increased COVID-19 cases and new Johns Hopkins restrictions on in-person gatherings, we now have to postpone the Stride and Thrive Garden Party event. We want to keep our community safe during these challenging times. We will be in touch with rescheduled event details as soon as they are confirmed. We are however continuing the "Reunite and Reignite: Stride and Thrive" campaign though the end of September 2022, Gynecologic Oncology Cancer Awareness Month. The campaign aims to reunite and reignite our community, strengthening our resolve to CARE for gynecologic cancer patients, their caregivers, family and friends through connection, advocacy, research and education. Funds raised will support the following programs:
- Kelly’s Angels Supplies – Replenishing the patient survivor bags which go to more than 200 new patients each year
- Survivorship Retreats – Supporting ongoing programming and retreats for patients and their care partners
- Early Investigator Research – Supporting fellows and residents specializing in gynecologic oncology with early career research awards
- Survivorship Program – Supporting the program coordinator position, which has been approved for rehire
We hope you will consider getting involved. You can sign up as an individual fundraiser, set up a fundraising team in honor of a loved one, share photos or wellness shout-outs on social media to motivate and inspire other teams, or become a sponsor. There is something for everyone!
