About the Event
The Annual Below the Belt Stride and Thrive event has celebrated six remarkably successful years, including two during the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, as we move towards in-person events and a restart of pre-pandemic activities, we are excited to announce “Reunite and Reignite: Stride and Thrive.” Beginning now until Sunday, June 26, the campaign will reunite and reignite our community, strengthening our resolve to CARE. for gynecologic cancer patients, their caregivers, family and friends through connection, advocacy, research and education. The campaign will end with an in-person celebration at the Elkridge Furnace Inn for our first annual Stride and Thrive Garden Party on Sunday, June 26. The event will bring together cancer survivors, their family members and friends, health care providers, and the local community to encourage fitness, raise gynecologic cancer awareness and educate patients to seek out expert care earlier. The event will also include a memorial tribute for patients who lost their battle to cancer and an award ceremony honoring sponsors and top fundraising teams.
When you register as a participant in the campaign, you are choosing to stand up for below the belt cancers. All proceeds will support gynecologic cancer research conducted by The Kelly Gynecologic Oncology Service and gynecologic cancer survivors through The Susan L. Burgert, M.D. Gynecologic Oncology Survivorship Program. There is no registration fee or fundraising minimum to participate in the campaign. There will be awards given to the top ten fundraising teams who participated in the campaign. The awards will be celebrated at the in-person event and at least one team member will need to be present to accept the award. Throughout the campaign, you will be encouraged by faculty and fellow team members to be inspired by wellness. Using the event Kudoboard, you can share activities, health recipes, work outs or inspirational quotes that you are using to stay healthy and motivated.
