Half Marathon Details
The Rocket City Race Weekend will have ONE half marathon.
The half marathon will start at 9:00am from the Von Braun Center. The half marathon will merge in with the marathon and finish along with the marathoners at the Von Braun Center. The race course is begin designed, certified, approved, etc at the moment and will be published as soon as humanly possible. We do know the half marathon will run the majority of the same course as the last 13 miles of the marathon including the U. S. Space and Rocket Center and the Botanical Gardens.

Aid Stations
Aid stations will be roughly 2-3 miles apart, located along the course offering water and several with Powerade and GU Energy Gels (refer to the table below). In addition, there will be port-o-lets at every aid station.
RCM encourages all our runners to bring your preferred nutrition with you on the race course. Although we provide GU energy gels on the course at certain points, we want you to be fully prepared for the miles in between our GU stations. The flavors of GU will be announced by May 30th.
Approximate location of each aid station: (slight changes may be made once the half marathon race course is finalized)
- Aid Station 1 - 2.5 miles
- Aid Station 2 - 5.0 miles
- Aid Station 3 - 6.7 miles
- Aid Station 4 - 8.3 miles (medical) (Gu)
- Aid Station 5 - 9.3 miles
- Aid Station 6 - 10.3 miles
- Aid Station 7 - 11.9 miles
Medical
Medical support and radio communication are both on the race course. A medical station is set up inside the VBC for runners needing care after the race.
Prizes and awards
| Overall male and female 1st – $500 2nd – $250 3rd – $100 |
Overall prize money will be mailed to the winners the week following the race.
Age Group awards
The Top 3 Male and Female finishers in the following age groups will receive Rocket City Half Marathon awards:
0 – 19, 20 – 24, 25 – 29, 30 – 34, 35 – 39, 40 – 44, 45 – 49, 50 – 54, 55 – 59, 60 – 64, 65 – 69, 70 – 74, 75 & up
Awards may be collected at the awards table in the South Hall. There will not be an awards ceremony. Awards will not be mailed.
