The 17th Annual Hope Walks for ALS Family day is back for another year of raising awareness and funds for the fight against Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). Join us for a day full of fun for the whole family! Throughout the event, we will have exciting raffle baskets filled with amazing items, a variety of kids’ activities, music and entertainment, delicious food, snacks, and awards!

All proceeds from the event will go to supporting those living with ALS. We hope to see you there!

The ALS Hope Foundation is an independent foundation that provides much-needed funds to support clinical research and educational efforts. This is the only walk in the area that supports the work of the ALS Hope Foundation and the team at the MDA/ALS Center of Hope.

Please be sure to check in for the event by September 15th, 2024 to guarantee yourself a t-shirt!

We’re introducing Mike O'Brien as this year’s Walk Chair.
Mike is a veteran, father of four, and a fierce ALS fighter. His motto right now? “F**k ALS.”

Hello!

We’re thrilled to have you join us for our 17th Annual Hope Walks for ALS Family Fun Day this Sunday, September 29th at Temple Ambler campus! Here’s everything you need to Know Before You Go:
 

Event Details:

Date: Sunday, September 29th (rain or shine)

Location: Temple Ambler (580 Meetinghouse Rd, Ambler, PA 19002)

Time: 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM (Check in opens at 9:30 AM)
Parking Information:
 
pALS Parking/Participant Drop-Off:

Location: Faculty/Staff Learning Center Parking Lot 2

Directions: From Meetinghouse Rd, turn onto Loop Drive where the Temple Ambler Community Garden is located. Follow Loop Drive until you see the pALS parking lot. We have designated parking close to the event for our patients and those who are handicapped. Participants can be dropped off at this area for check-in. Once dropped off, vehicles will make a U-turn on Loop Drive and be directed to the event parking lot. 
 

General Event Parking:

Location: Student & Sports Parking Lot 3

Directions: From Meetinghouse Road, turn onto Woods Drive and go straight towards Student and Sports Lot 3. It’s a short walk to the registration area, and you’ll be directed along the way.

Alternatively, a shuttle van will run from the shuttle station booth in Student and Sports Lot 3 to the registration area and back.


*There will be a carnival in this parking lot that is not affiliated with our event.*
 
 
Check-In:

Opens at 9:30 AM: Check in is located near the Ambler Learning Center, up the walkway from patient parking. Those walking from the general parking lot will be directed along the way.
T-Shirts: These will be distributed at registration according to pre-selected sizes.
*Day-Of Registration: Due to demand we cannot guarantee shirts for day-of registrants. Please note that those who pre-registered by 9/15 will receive T-Shirts.*
The Route:
New Route: This year’s route highlights the campus’s unique and beautiful settings after the tornado devastation (see map attached below). The walk is a total of .3 miles for the "short route" and a total of 1 mile for the "long route."

Garden Path: A portion of the route goes past a gorgeous garden area on a level, flagstone path wide enough for two people or a wheelchair. There are several areas to stop, sit, and enjoy the gardens, as well as a photo station.

Please note: There are two sharp turns on this path. Please know that we had our clinic team visit the site and we are confident that the turns are manageable. 

Route Options: The end of the garden path circles back to the event area or breaks off into a longer route for those who wish to continue walking.

10:45 AM Walk commences
11:00 AM Family Fun Day! 
12:00 PM Raffle winners announced
12:30 PM Walk concludes. Thank you for coming! Go Birds!
Please take note of the following information:

 

Additional Activities:

- Raffles: Raffle tickets for a variety of baskets will be available for purchase via cash or Venmo (1 Ticket for $5, 5 Tickets for $20).

- Complimentary Food: Pizza from Ambler Pizza will be provided by Soleo Health, Jack and Jill ice cream will be provided by C&C Family Roofing and Siding, Rita’s Water Ice, Hoagie Trays provided by Ambler's own Penna’s Italian Market, and so much more!

- Leashed Dogs Welcome: You are welcome to bring your leashed furry friends! However, only service animals will be allowed inside the buildings.

- Team Photos: Teams will be able to take photos together after the walk either in the Kids Zone area or in the starting area. 

- Explore: Guests are invited and encouraged to explore Temple Ambler's gardens and arboretum.

- Family Fun: Enjoy face painting, slides, bracelet making, games, food, photos, gardens, visiting with our sponsors, and more!
