Description

Join us for the 15th Annual Frosty Five Run.  Enjoy the scenic course that starts at Studebaker Park Pavilion and follows the River Greenway Trail along the Elkhart River  The 5K and 5M courses will now all be almost entirely on paved trails.  The City of Elkhart has paved the path for multi-use (bikes and running) and made some major improvements to the drainage so that flooding/freezing is unlikely to occur.

February is the month when the winter blues might try to set in, so come out for some fun and camaraderie! You won't feel the cold with your running mates by your side! We'll have a fire going in the cabin to stay cozy before and after the race.  There are large restrooms, so you can bring a dry top to change into there. Plenty of parking at the park- there are multiple lots and plenty of street parking.

ENTRY FEE. The entry fee for the race, which includes chip timing, finisher mementos, while they last, placement awards three deep, and post race refreshments is now $30.00. Long sleeve heather grey shirts are optional and an additional $20.00.  The shirt color is heather grey this year. Vintage shirts are available onsite for $10, while they last.

There are three lots in the park for parking. Please follow instructions from parking volunteers. Please enter the lots off of Indiana on BELMONT street- you will see signs and volunteers. Belmont Street is a straight shot into the parking lots!

Please, no parking ON McDonald as that is part of the course. There is a huge lot at Mary Beck Elelmentary School as well.

COURSE DESCRIPTION
Flat, ( ok there are three very small hills on the scenic, tree-lined, paved course.  The 5 K is a flat lollipop course that almost looks like a T, and there is two way traffic on the way back- which is nice because you will never be alone on the course!

The 5 Mile would be more of a dumbbell shaped course - with a loop in the beginning and then the exact same course as the 5K.

NEW FOR 2025

  • The 5 Mile course will add the additional 1.9 miles up front, so when you join the 5K course, everyone runs the same path, without deviation.
  • Monster Message will be bringing the tunes
  • Both distances start in the same location but at different times
  • Custom bibs, with GREEN for 5K and YELLOW for 5 Mile

NOTE: There are two different start times for the different distances.  The 5 K course  starts on the road by the parking lots and will follow green signs. You will have different colored bibs, so help each other out if you notice that someone didn't get the memo on this detail. The 5 MILE course also starts by the parking lot and then exits on McDonald Avenue and will follow the YELLOW arrow signs.

The 5K will line up first and begin first, then the 5 Milers will line up and start a few minutes afterwards in the same direction.

DOGS If you would like to run with your dog, you will need to fill out a waiver and adhere to the park rules. Please contact the race director for that waiver to register your dog!

TIMING We will use Watts My Time for timing of this race, which uses RFID tags. You will attach one tag to each of your shoes (through your shoelace) and let them flop free. (As opposed to putting them tightly down against your shoes.). We will collect these tags at the end of the race. As soon as you finish, you can go to the printing station and get your label with your personal finish time.

RESULTS    There will be a fire and refreshments in the Pavilion to keep you warm while we wait for results. Results get pushed to Runsignup after the race.

AWARDS  Finisher mementos for everyone. Top Three M/F both distances will get a special custom award. Top three AG winners in 15 standard age groups in both distances will get medals.

Refreshments Coffee, cocoa, fruit, trail mix, granola bars and more will be available at the finish!
