5K Run or Family Walk: Saturday, November 30, 2024
The Beverly Hills Turkey Trot 5K Run and Family Walk return to the 19th Ward community on Saturday, November 30th, beginning at 9:00 am, at 9200 S. Hamilton. Now in its 16th year, this annual family tradition has become one of the most anticipated events in the area, with over 2,200 participants expected to run or walk the beautiful tree-lined streets of the historic North Beverly neighborhood.
Starting on August 15th, runners and walkers of all ages and levels can register for either the 5K Run or Walk, Team Registration, or the untimed Family Walk. Those who register BEFORE race day are guaranteed a Beverly Hills Turkey Trot long-sleeved event t-shirt and a gift bag.
The 5K Run is chip-timed on a CARA-certified 5K course while the family walk is untimed. Runners will be divided by age and gender, according to CARA-recommended guidelines, with awards given to each age group.
Please note, that anyone who signs up by Thursday, October 31st by 5:00 pm has the opportunity to request a free upgrade to a hooded sweatshirt. THE SWEATSHIRT OPTION MUST BE CHOSEN DURING REGISTRATION TO GUARANTEE AVAILABILITY. OTHERWISE, A LONG-SLEEVE T-SHIRT WILL BE PROVIDED AT PACKET PICK-UP.

On the morning of the Turkey Trot 5K, the 19th Ward and Original Pancake House - Beverly will host a pancake breakfast immediately following the race in the gym of Christ the King. The cost is $5 per person or $25 per family.
Proceeds will benefit the 19th Ward Youth & Community Foundation and the John McNicholas Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.
Registration Fees
5K Run Adult: $35 until 7 pm on Nov. 29th in-person, then $40 on Nov. 30th
5K Run Youth (age 19 or younger): $30 until 7 pm on Nov. 29th in-person, then $35 on Nov. 30th
5K Walk Individual: $35 until 7 pm on Nov. 29th in-person, then $40 on Nov. 30th
5K Walk Family (limit 4 shirts & 1 gift bag): $80 until 7 pm on Nov. 29th in-person, then $85 on Nov. 30th
NOTE: Family Pricing is under the 5K Walk-Individual. After you click on Sign Up; you will be taken to the Registrant page; go to the bottom of the page where it reads Multi-Person Pricing and pick Family Registration (3-4 registrants). Family registration includes (1) gift bag.
Online registration will close at 10 am on November 29th; Walk-up registration will be available onsite on race day. Those who register BEFORE race day will be guaranteed a Beverly Hills Turkey Trot long-sleeved event t-shirt and gift bag.

Volunteers
If you are interested in volunteering for the Turkey Trot, you may sign up on the registration website or email the coordinator, Margie (margie@the19thward.com). We are looking for volunteers who can help the day of the race with set-up, packet pick-up, registration, gear check, course marshals, pancake breakfast, and clean-up.

Pancake Breakfast
The 19th Ward will host a pancake breakfast after the race. The cost is $5 per person or $25 per family and tickets can be added to your cart during registration or online separately and at the door. Breakfast will be in the gym at Christ the King and includes coffee, orange juice, and pancakes.

Course
The course leads runners and walkers through the tree-lined streets of historic North Beverly. The course is CARA-certified and will have water stations along the route.

Parking
The Turkey Trot starts at 9:00 am at 9200 and S Hamilton. The City of Chicago requests that all vehicles on the course must be off the street by 8:00 am as a matter of public safety. The streets will re-open at 10:00 am. The race course is bounded by Pleasant Avenue, Leavitt Street, 88th Street, and 94th Street. We will have course marshals and police officers stationed along the race course as well. Street parking is available off of the course.

Gear Check
Gear check will be available the morning of the race from 7:00 am until 10:30 am.
Timing
The 5K Run is bib-tagged and timed by Lakeshore Athletic Services. Only runners receive a bib and are timed.
Age Groups for Awards Ceremony: First, Second, and Third Place Only
Only 5K runners are timed and eligible for a medal (adult) or trophy (youth).
The age groups are 8 and under, 1-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 & Over.
