24% of Beaufort County adults (age 16-74) may be able to read short texts and understand very basic vocabulary, enough to do simple tasks. 48 million adults in the U.S. cannot read above a third grade level.

38% of Beaufort County adults can understand how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide and can perform basic one-step mathematical operations.

Literacy opens doors-it empowers us to explore, learn, and connect. Supporting Literacy Volunteers is a wonderful way to make a positive impact on individuals and communities.

 

 

The Community Moonlight Stroll was created by the Beaufort County United Way as a way for community members to support local causes they are passionate about. United Way is working to create a collaborative resilient region where every person has the opportunity to thrive.
