Since 2014, City Island Rowing (CIR) has been a place where committed, passionate athletes set big goals and then do whatever it takes to reach them. Our athletes train hard year-round to be competition-ready both physically and mentally, regionally and nationally. Blistered hands and aching legs earn kind sympathy but no other special consideration among athletes here.
We train with a rare, thoughtfully balanced mix of skill-building, strategy, and heart at CIR, but also with expensive equipment. A lot of equipment, in fact. That’s why we hold our Annual Ergathon every spring. The Ergathon is CIR’s only annual fundraiser, so we go all in and hope you will, too. On Sunday March 5th our Varsity athletes Erg for 90 minutes, our JV and Novices for 60. It’s grueling, but also great fun—think adrenaline, loud cheering and lots of high-fives, for starters!
This year is an especially important fundraiser as proceeds will fund the purchase of the most stunning racing shell, specifically designed for high school girls, available in the world ~ The innovative and groundbreaking Hudson USP 8.12. These racing shells are made in Canada and are quickly replacing Empachers at the fastest women's collegiate programs across the country. The "USP" (Ultra Super Predator) marque is Hudson's Flagship model, in their premium "Shark" line-up. A more detailed description of the shell we have ordered can be found on our website.

YOU can help by sponsoring one of our athletes. Each CIR team member sets a personal fundraising goal and appeals to family and friends for donations. Athletes who raise at least $1000 earn the right to have their name featured prominently in our gorgeous new racing shell... the top 8 fundraisers will have their names right on the seats! (Talk about incentive!) Can you help them raise the funds we need? We hope the answer is YES! To support an individual athlete, just click on THE TEAM and search by name.
Please note that City Island Rowing is an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization and 100% of your donation is fully tax-deductible.
