Wendell Carter Jr.
Biography
Wendell Carter Jr. was raised and reared in Fairburn, GA by his parents, Kylia and Wendell Carter Sr. He started playing basketball at the tender age of 4 and as a family started playing basketball for a church league in Atlanta. Wendell was raised to appreciate and embrace education and developed into a remarkable student-athlete. In high school, Carter led Pace Academy to a 26-8 record and a 2017 Georgia Class 3A state title. Carter is Ranked as the No. 4 overall recruit and No. 1 power forward in the 2017 high school class by ESPN. In addition to many other honors, he maintained a 3.8 GPA and earned the school’s Lance and Shield Award as a top scholar-athlete. As a true young renaissance man, Wendell was involved in philanthropic efforts across the community, and participated in high school theatre and performing arts.
Following an incredible high school career, Carter enrolled at Duke University and led one of the greatest rookie seasons in Duke history, finishing second all-time among Duke freshmen in rebounds (335), blocked shots (76), and double-doubles (16). Carter was a second-team All-ACC selection and a unanimous pick to the ACC All-Freshman Team. In 2018, Carter was selected with the seventh overall pick by the Chicago Bulls.
In his second year in the NBA he was chosen to the NBA All-Star Rising Stars team. After playing with Chicago for 3 consecutive seasons, he moved on to the Orlando Magic where he currently plays. Bleacher Report named Wendell a Top 10 NBA Player, 21 & Under, in 2021. Off the court, Wendell has taken interest in both acting and modeling. He enjoys dancing, gaming, DJing and developing new ideas for his A Platform² Foundation. His main desire is to leave a powerful legacy for future generations.
