In January, 2020 my dad, John Chandler, lost his battle with colon cancer. If you know my Dad, nothing was going to hurt him. I can almost guarantee that until he started having symptoms, he never had a routine colonoscopy. On September 13, 2023 Dueff had what we thought was a routine colonoscopy. His doctor comes in and sits down. I have been an oncology nurse practitioner for over 20 years. You never want to see your doctor, sit down. "We found a large mass". I unfortunately have said those words too many times over the years. Dueff and I knew at that moment that we were dealing with cancer. We cried, we were angry, we were scared, but we knew that we would beat this together with God and our family and friends. Surgery occurred on Sept. 29th, Dueff had a complete tumor resection with lymph node dissection. Praise the Lord, tumor margins were clear and lymph nodes negative. Next step, cTDNA - a newer test looking for circulating tumor cells. We have multiple negative cTDNA tests and will continue to check this every 6 months. We have now moved to the monitoring stage. We are determined to raise awareness of this very curable disease! We are very appreciative for any amount that you can give. Our goal is $2000 but would love much, much more! Thank you for joining us for the 5K, virtually running from afar, or making a donation!!!
