This is my 4th time riding in the Mountains 2 Desert ride, with it as my annual barometer on my fitness - hopefully as I get older my times stay fairly stable, a sign that I'm remaining in good health. It's also been a great way to connect and see family, with my uncle Erik and aunt Josephine having founded this ride well over a decade ago.
Last year this ride took on a new significance for me, as Nika and I spent close to a year living in San Miguel county, most of it out in Norwood (right at the top of that dreaded hill)! We saw firsthand the need for investing in the youth in Norwood and its neighboring towns, which the Just for Kids foundation has been doing tirelessly for the past 20 years.
