Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services (IRIS) helps refugees and other displaced people resettle in Connecticut. It learned this month that $4 million in expected federal funds are being cancelled.
My buddy Steve and I are running the IRIS Run for Refugees 5k on February 9th in New Haven as Team Ohana. This will be my 4th time running this 5k. "Ohana" is a nod to our shared love of the ukulele, and to the Hawaiian concept of Ohana- which can mean family, or more broadly, a sense of friendship, community, and spirit of togetherness. The Iris Run for Refugees attracts over 3,000 participants each year and is IRIS's biggest annual fundraiser.
