As some of you know we lost Laura Olson to cancer almost 8 years ago. She was an amazing woman & lived the fullest 29 years of life that anyone could ever have. I was blessed to have been her partner for 5 of those years. Laura spent a portion of her battle at UW hospital in the Carbone Cancer Center, benefitting from the excellent care & cutting edge treatment they provided. She even participated in an early clinical trial for CAR T-cell therapy, which has become a life saving treatment for many patients with blood cancer. I have been working to raise money for different organizations to help Laura's memory live on. I'm so proud to say that over the past 8 years, with the help of many of Laura's loved ones, we have raised almost $80,000 in her memory. I have made it a goal to get to $100,000 by the 10th anniversary of her passing. So please help out if you can.
Although I am raising money for the Badger Challenge it will be unlikely that I will be able to participate in the run as I had prior arrangements for that weekend. I am planning on running the Half Marathon during the Madison Marathon on November 10th in place of this. The Badger Challenge's mission is to give 100% of all participant-raised dollars (yes, every penny!) to the most promising UW cancer initiatives both in the laboratory and clinic setting. Since 2016, Badger Challenge has raised over $3.6 million and what’s best of all is our ability to see where the money goes as Badger Challenge presents their Scholars each year!
Badger Challenge takes place in September and 100% of all dollars-raised are presented to the newly announced Scholar Class by January of the next year. This is done quickly so the funds can make an impact in the labs and hospital helping patients and families immediately.
Help me support Badger Challenge and its UW cancer mission. All contributions are appreciated - whether it is $5 or $500, every dollar counts and you can be assured that every dollar you give goes back to the cause and helping those affected by cancer.
