Pedal the Cause

Last year I rode in Pedal the Cause for the first time as a way to recognize and remember my former husband, Peter Dolan, and my mother, Marilyn "Middy" Morris. Both lost their battles with cancer ten years earlier, and their journeys through their diagnosis and treatments, although much different paths, showed me how brave and strong they were in addressing their challenges. The Pedal the Cause experience was so rewarding, and I learned so much from it, and now I am more energized than ever to get back out there not only to remember Peter and my mom, but to support the many others who are in cancer treatment and winning their personal battles.

Cancer research has come so far in the last ten years, and Siteman Cancer Center is one of the top researchers contributing to these lifesaving breakthroughs. I believe there are future cures just around the corner, but to get there, we need to continue to support these efforts. The Pedal the Cause fundraising event is an excellent opportunity to make a contribution and a difference. It is more than the region's largest cancer fundraiser. It's a way of life, a celebration, a family and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.
