We all know someone who has been affected by this terrible disease. One diagnosis robs so many people of so many different things.
For me, that person was my dad, my hero, my Superman. In September of 2016, just before his 48th birthday, he was diagnosed with colon cancer. What started as stage 2 quickly advanced to stage 4, spreading to his liver. But he never let cancer define him. He kept doing what he loved, tinkering with cars in the garage, racing at the track, spending time with family and friends, taking trips, and making memories.
He fought for six long years, enduring multiple surgeries, traveling to MD Anderson for treatments, and even undergoing a liver transplant. But on May 11, 2022, he took his last breath, holding my stepmom’s and my hand.
Cancer stole so much from him and from us. He never got to walk his daughter down the aisle. He never got the chance to be a grandpa. He and the love of his life, Trella, never got to grow old together.
But I ride to bring hope, hope that one day, cancer will stop robbing families of their precious moments.

Check Donations - Please make the check payable to Pedal the Cause and mail the check to CIBC c/o Pedal the Cause 8410 Solutions Center Chicago, IL 60677-8004 with the fundraiser name in the memo line.
Stock donations and Donor-Advised Fund - When processing a DAF grant through a charitable giving account, search for the Pedal the Cause by tax ID (27-2233336). In the “notes” section, indicate the Pedal the Cause fundraiser you want to support.
