In 2021 I signed up for 'The Ride' (now named Badger Challenge) as a personal challenge to complete my first century (100 mile) ride and to raise money for cancer research. Completing The Ride was easily the hardest cycling-related thing I had ever done, but the overwhelming feeling of accomplishment upon crossing the finish line compelled me to do it again in 2022. I now enter my fourth year of raising money and committing to the 100-mile ride.
Over the previous three years I raised $3600 through donations from some incredibly gracious people for which I am so thankful. This year I've set another goal of $1000 and I hope you can help me achieve (and exceed) that number with any amount you feel comfortable contributing. No amount is too small - seriously, even $5 helps! You can be assured that every dollar you give goes back to the cause and helping those affected by cancer.

A little about why I first signed up in 2021…
Cancer affects each and every one of us to some degree. That reality hit very close to home a few days before Christmas in 2019. A close member of our family was diagnosed with a form of Stage 4 metastatic cancer, sending all of our worlds into a tailspin of uncertainty. The medical team at the University of Wisconsin's Carbone Cancer Center was instrumental in helping our loved one turn the tables on a late-stage aggressive diagnosis, achieving an NED (no evidence of disease) clearance in almost exactly 6 months from the date of diagnosis.
If you know me, you may know about my passion for cycling. When I found out about The Ride and its connection to UW's Carbone Cancer Center, I realized this was the perfect opportunity to give back to the organization that gave us back our family member.

Badger Challenge's mission is to give 100% of all participant-raised dollars (yes, every penny!) to the most promising UW cancer initiatives both in the laboratory and clinic setting. Since 2016, Badger Challenge has raised over $3.6 million and what’s best of all is our ability to see where the money goes as Badger Challenge presents their Scholars each year!
Badger Challenge takes place in September and 100% of all dollars-raised are presented to the newly announced Scholar Class by January of the next year. This is done quickly so the funds can make an impact in the labs and hospital helping patients and families immediately.
