Lake Michigan - The Silver Sequel

Tue August 6 - Fri August 9 Milwaukee, WI 53202 US Directions

Description

Lake Michigan – The Silver Sequel

In 2023, to mark the 25th anniversary of his 1998 record-setting swim across Lake Michigan and to celebrate his 60th birthday, Jim "The Shark" Dreyer planned to raise the bar with a self-sufficient swim across Lake Michigan that is 25 miles further than his escorted swim of 25 years ago.

After his two attempts fell short in 2023, Dreyer continues his quest this summer to swim the 82.9-mile point-to-point route alone, from McKinley Beach in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to City Beach in his hometown of Grand Haven, Michigan, a.k.a. “Coast Guard City USA.”   The swim is scheduled to begin on August 6, 2024, depending on weather.

Lake Michigan – The Silver Sequel will benefit the Grand Haven Chapter and Western Lake Michigan (Milwaukee) Chapter of the U.S. Coast Guard’s  Chief Petty Officers Association, which supports Lake Michigan Guardians, their families, and communities on both shores.
