"I'm so grateful for all the love and support you've shown over the last few years. It has been 38 months since I was diagnosed with incurable brain cancer. Despite having undergone chemotherapy and radiation treatment back in 2021, I can honestly say it's been the best 38 months of my life. Whitney and I recently celebrated our 20th year together (8 married). My son, Walter, is now approaching 3 and has been a beautiful gift to us. To top it off, my second child will be here in the next week or so.
For all of these blessings I refuse any sorrow or pity. I ask only for support. Every inch that we gain on cancer is one inch closer to leaving this disease to history.
That is exactly where I intend to leave it and that is why I am returning for my 4th year with Team Batterman at the Badger Challenge and I want all of you to join me. The Batterman Team has raised over $40,000 dollars for research at the UW Carbone Cancer Center. 100% OF ALL FUNDS RAISED go to the University for their researchers and programs.
I want you all to know the impact you are having on those battling, suffering, struggling. It is unmeasurable. The example you set, the love you show, the dedication you have to fight cancer with us when we can and for us when we can't. That gives us hope.
Hope is all that some of us have, but when that hope is unwavering, IT IS POWERFUL! WE ARE POWERFUL!
And when we are POWERFUL, that is when change comes, when miracles happen. That is when we CURE CANCER.
