Story

I am proud to join Pedal the Cause in the fight against cancer. Pedal the Cause is more than the region's largest cancer fundraiser. It's a way of life, a celebration, a family and a movement fueled by the courage to end cancer.

Please support my efforts by donating to my fundraiser, and give with confidence knowing that 100% of your donation will fund lifesaving cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids at St. Louis Children's Hospital.

I ride in honor of my late step father. Prof. Paul M Kintner was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2010 and passed away later that fall. He was a brilliant scientist, a loving dad and had an exceptionally kind heart. Among many things, Paul taught me how to recognize and prioritize the things that really matter in life. One example is from when I crashed his Volvo wagon the summer before I left for college. My mom picked me up and drove me home. When I saw Paul, I began to cry. I was devastated — he loved that car and I was so disappointed in myself. He gave me a big hug and said simply, “Becky, it is just a car." I still miss Paul, so much, and wish he were here with us. He lives on in our memories.
