After "co-captaining" SLCH's PTC team in 2011, Clare decided PTC needed Team Clare as well as a 14-year old team captain. Clare inspired all of us when she rode 15 miles in October 2012--smiling all the way--in defiance of her stage IV cancer. Only weeks later, just 4 days shy of turning 15, our bright star went to heaven.
When Clare was first diagnosed with her adrenal cancer in early 2011, she vowed to "kick it in the butt." Then, despite the horrific chemo treatments and painful surgeries, the cancer advanced, and Clare declared that we all had to "let cancer know that it's NOT going to win." In your honor, Clare Bear, we will continue to do so.
We now ride for Clare. We ride so that, someday, no Mom will ever have to hold her daughter while cancer steals her away. And we ride knowing that Clare is with us in spirit and love, just dancing along....
Remember when Clare said that a world without cancer "would be just the coolest thing?" Please donate what you can to help us get there...to a world without cancer. Dance on, Angel!
