Greta's Run 5K & Memory Walk

For over 2 years, Gabby and I have been going to Imagine, a bi-weekly group for families with children who have lost a parent or close relative. They have been wonderful and a huge help while coping with loss.  Gabby enjoys playing with other kids and knowing she isn’t alone in this situation. I meet with others in similar situations who have lost a partner discussing how to live with grief of a spouse while raising your children. They serve pizza too, that always helps! All of these services are free to us and I’m very grateful for all they do for hundreds of families. 

They are holding their annual fundraiser run in May.  For the 3rd time, we will be doing a 1 mile memory walk along with a kids fun run.  I’ve purchased a sign which we will be decorating with all the sparkles and glitter of course. 

Greta’s Run was founded in memory of Greta Schoenemann, a Westfield High School freshman, who died from injuries sustained after a tree branch fell on her and her classmates during lunch. Her story, and the stories of many more loved ones we’ve lost too soon, are part of what makes Greta’s Run for Imagine so special.
