As an adult, I have fallen in love with living an active lifestyle. From playfulness to independence, problem solving, physical and mental health, and confidence, I truly believe there is nothing a life full of movement can't improve about our experience on this Earth.
To be honest, I get bummed when I think about not having a lot of access to supportive structure to get me active as a kid. Like some of my best athlete friends, if I could go back, I would have started running earlier.
I'm asking for your help to make this kind of opportunity available to kids around the Richmond region. Your support can help open the door to a life of health and happiness to hundreds of kids through Kids Run RVA.
To put my legs where my mouth is (yes, I said that), I will be racing with 7 teammates at a Ragnar race at Pocohantas State Park - September 10-11. Our team will complete 122.4 miles in a relay-style race - this will not only be a physical feat but also a mental and emotional one as every team member will run at least one leg at night in the dark, on limited sleep. But we are doing this all to raise money for Kids Run RVA, a program of Sports Backers. Kids Run RVA supports kids running clubs in the Richmond, Virginia region, giving elementary and middle school aged kids an opportunity to train for and then complete a local race over the course of a fall and/or spring season. Kids Run provides resources for their coaches to foster a safe and fun environment to build up their physical endurance in order to be ready for race day.
Thanks for your support.
